ISSUE Project Room’s Distant Pairs Series returns this May 2025!

Throughout 2020 and 2021, ISSUE commissioned artists to produce collaborative work at a time when the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic had drastically impacted their ability to travel and perform, and altered the nature of collective work and performance. Pairing artists in disparate locations who cannot work together in “traditional” ways, the Distant Pairs Series examines the collaborative process, methods of working, and partnership amidst constrained conditions.

Throughout May 2025, ISSUE and curatorial platform Time Based will co-present three commissioned works uniting artists based in Kyiv and New York City. Working through the simultaneity of war and multiple crises, these three pairs engage in a collaborative creation that highlights physical distance – yet reveals a deeply layered interdependence.
