Art as a Catalyst for Change

Art as a Catalyst for Change honors students of all ages who participated in arts programs from eight cultural organizations across Brooklyn as part of the Violence Prevention and Intervention for Youth and Young Adults Initiative grant awarded by New York City Council. Over the course of the school year, the organizations conduct classes in a range of artistic media from dance to drumming to music to visual art centered around discussions of how art can make space to prevent the perpetuation of violence and make change in the world. The culminating event will feature peer performances, art and media workshops led by partner organizations, and a keynote speaker.
